I am a Watercolorist in love with color, surrounded by hidden wonder - a desert dweller and enthusiast.

I didn't start that way, however. A more generalized statement is that I am a So-Cal woman juggling interests and hobbies that far exceed the time I have on this earth.

My name is Raini. I am a hobbyist photographer and a professional watercolorist. This is of course my 'super-hero' persona, seeing as I am a Server Administrator and specialized applications user by  day.

I have always been wrapped into the blanket of creativity because of my parents, their professions, and my homeschooling upbringing. Photography has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember, and painting - regardless of the medium - has been everywhere.

After years of self-study and the voices of a few brilliant instructors rolling around in my head, I have become enamored with watercolor as my primary medium. I find inspiration in the quirky struggle of controlling a semi-uncontrollable medium. At times, more often than not, I feel like true beauty is created when nothing has gone as intended, yet everything ends up right.

I have lived in the Joshua Tree area for over twenty years. I  enjoy beautiful summer  days and often-ephemeral moments unique to the desert. Many subjects interest me, but the subtle colors of daylight hours, the vivid hues of dusk and dawn, and the crisp night sky, continue to inspire me the most. The desert is alive with thousands of fleeting moments, and those are the flashes of life that I strives to capture and share with you all.
